Rabbits give a coloring page two things children love: long ears to fill in and a round body with nothing complicated inside it. This set starts with a plain sitting bunny and a bunny with a carrot, moves through a hutch, a clover patch, and a rabbit washing its face, and ends with garden scenes where the rabbit has a fence, a vegetable row, and a wheelbarrow to color as well.

Two of the later pages are drawn in a more natural style, with the longer body and alert ears of a real rabbit, for older kids and adults who want something less cartoonish.

How to print these pages

  1. Pick the paper size that matches what is in your printer: US Letter or A4.
  2. Open the PDF and choose Print. Set scale to 100 percent or “actual size” (not “fit to page”).
  3. Plain copy paper works for crayons and pencils. Use heavier cardstock for markers or paint.

Print at actual size. The garden scenes are also available as A4 for classrooms outside North America.

Making the fur look fluffy

Color the body in short strokes that all point the same direction, then go over the edges with a slightly darker shade. Leave the inside of the ears and the tail lighter than the body. Brown, gray, white with gray patches, and black are all real rabbit colors, and so is a lop-eared rabbit in mixed patches.

A note for teachers

The garden pages pair well with lessons about what animals eat. Real rabbits eat mostly hay and leafy greens, and carrots are a treat, which surprises most children and makes a good discussion after coloring.

Ideas for using these pages

  • Ears up, ears down: color one rabbit with ears straight up and one with floppy ears, then talk about how ears show what a rabbit is feeling.
  • What rabbits eat: on the garden page, color only the foods a real rabbit would eat, and leave the rest white.
